CBT Course

Everyone starts with a CBT so we’ll start with what you can expect on your course. You will be given information on clothing and helmets to keep you safe, information on the controls of the Scooter/Moped or motorbike, some basic maintenance and how to use the stands properly, this will help to keep you and your bike in a good safe condition.

You will carry out various exercises teaching you machine control, this will include things like U turns, slow riding and if appropriate gear changing. These are done at one of our training sites away from the road. You will receive a pre-ride briefing covering situations you may experience out on the road (its a good idea to read or refresh yourself with the Highway Code). You will then finish with a minimum of Two hours out on the road with the instructor, connected by radio.

After you’ve completed CBT, you can ride a:

• moped if you’re 16 or over
• motorcycle up to 125cc and with a power output of up to 11kW if you’re 17 or over
• You must use L plates (L or D plates in Wales).

You must pass your full moped or motorcycle test within 2 years, or you have to either take CBT again or stop riding.
